As the K12 Online Conference is fast approaching, members of the Live Events committee have been planning a number of interesting ways for you to choose to become involved. As in the past, we will be hosting Elluminate and Skype chats during the keynote sessions and fireside chats, and will also once again welcome participation in When Night Falls. Check the conference schedule for dates and times of the events.
This year, we will also be extending the conversations of each session presentation through the use of VoiceThread. Each presenter will identify 3 essential questions relating to their session, a VoiceThread will be created and linked to each presentation. Consequently, you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts/reflections using the essential questions as your guide after listening to the presentation. If you have a group of colleagues interested in gathering together to listen to a session or two, come together and use the essential questions as a reading group/book study discussion guide.
On October 28th Darren Draper and I will be facilitating an OpenPD session with teachers from our districts. We will gather to listen to Alice Barr’s keynote for the Getting Started strand and then listen to individual sessions and discuss as a group what we learned. Anyone is welcome to join us, the time is 3:45 PM EDT for three hours, we will post how we are broadcasting closer to the date.
This is an excellent opportunity to extend the conversations and get your friends involved who may not be comfortable using the tools on their own. As part of your reflection please let the presenter know who you are, where you are from, and what you do.
